Opportunities For All Students
There are many opportunities for students to participate in musical activities at Gettysburg College without declaring a major or minor. All performing ensembles are open to any student regardless of major, and indeed the membership of the ensembles represents a cross-section of the student body. There a variety of introductory-level courses for non-majors, including Music Listening, Music Fundamentals, Music of the Classical Period, Mozart, Music of the Romantic Era, Contemporary Music, Opera, Art Song, Women and Music, Survey of Jazz, and Japanese Music.
All of these introductory level courses fulfill a core requirement for the liberal arts degree. Gettysburg College students are involved in music in a lot of ways, regardless of major.
