Susan Hochmiller
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Sunderman Cons. of Music
Soprano Susan Hochmiller is a versatile artist with performance experience in opera, chamber music, art song, oratorio, musical theater and jazz. Performance highlights include singing at Carnegie Hall with the Susquehanna University Masterworks Chorus and Orchestra, in the Mozart 101 Series with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Schubert's Mass in G and Mass in C with Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Eastman Opera Theater's productions of L'Enfant et les Sortileges, East and West, and Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Don Giovanni with the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy. Additionally, she has received numerous awards and scholarships for musical and academic excellence. Ms. Hochmiller has performed in master classes with notable artists Benita Valente and Richard Hundley. Distinguished teachers have included Constance Haas, Jeffrey Fahnestock, Nina Tober, and Joan Boytim.
Ms. Hochmiller earned her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Voice Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and her Bachelor of Music from Susquehanna University. Also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Dr. Hochmiller is on faculty at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Voice and maintains a private voice studio at the Menchey Music Education Center in York, Pennsylvania.
