Timothy Sestrick

Adjunct Instructor, Sunderman Cons. of Music


Percussionist Timothy Sestrick appears frequently with ensembles in central Pennsylvania, including the Gettysburg Festival Orchestra, the Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra, and the York Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Johnstown and Altoona Symphony Orchestras; the Rochester Oratorio Society and the Rochester Bach Festival; and at the Aspen Music Festival, where he was awarded the Charles Owen Memorial Scholarship for Most Outstanding Percussion Applicant. Mr. Sestrick has appeared as percussion soloist with groups at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Gettysburg College; as Latin percussionist with the Majestic Jazz Orchestra; with the percussion ensemble Musica Ritma; and with the early music ensemble Zorzal. He also composes and arranges music for percussion, and his work has been performed at the MENC National Conference. In addition to teaching applied percussion and percussion methods classes, he leads the Contemporary World Percussion Ensemble, which performs percussion music from both Western and non-Western musical traditions. He is also Music Librarian and Director of Music and Media Resources at the College’s Musselman Library. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from Nazareth College of Rochester, and a Master of Arts degree in percussion performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania; as well as an undergraduate degree in liberal arts, and a graduate degree in library science.
