Young German Symphony Orchestra to perform Oct. 10 at Majestic Theater

The Young German Symphony Orchestra (YGSO), led and conducted by Klaus Arp, will perform Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. at the Majestic Theater.

This 90-piece orchestra's program will feature Beethoven's Triple Concerto, Elgar's Enigma Variations and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4. The YGSO was founded in 1973 and has become the most well known and respected young orchestra in Germany. They have traveled to four continents and 14 countries to perform their music.

The performance will also feature the American Borowsky Family on the cello, violin and piano. The Borowsky children are commonly called the “Young American Virtuosi” when they perform together.  When the Borowsky children perform with their parents, Cecylia Barczyk and Charles K. H. Borowsky, they are known as the “American Virtuosi”. 

A successful pianist, Elizabeth, now 25, made her debut when she was only 7 years of age. Since her debut, Elizabeth has won many awards including the International Young Artists Award. Emmanuel, now 21, made his debut as a violinist when he was 6 years of age. At the age of 10 Emmanuel performed in Washington D.C. before an audience of 9,000 people. Frances Grace, now 16, plays the cello and made her debut at age 12. Elizabeth, Emmanuel and Frances Grace were all born in Baltimore.

The event is sponosred by the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. Ticket prices are $37, $34 and $31, and are available at www.gettysburgmajestic.org or 717.337.8200. A free ticket is available with each Gettysburg College I.D.
