Piano recital Oct. 4 at Gettysburg College
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Pianist Richard Shuster will perform classical piano music Oct. 4 at Gettysburg College.
The 8 p.m. performance will take place in Schmucker Hall's Paul Recital Hall located along North Washington Street. Shuster's program will feature the works of Crumb, Debussy, Faure and Gershwin. The event is free and open to the public.
Shuster teaches piano pedagogy and literature seminars and coordinates the class piano program at Texas Woman's University. In 2007, Shuster served as the chief examiner and teacher for the International Piano Pedagogy Examination Committee, and he was a guest teacher at Mukogawa Women's University in Hyogo, Japan. He began his 16 years teaching career with the Young Pianists Program at Indiana University. Shuster's approach is student-centered; integrating naturalness in technique, injury prevention and healing, sound quality, style, professional development and an overall holistic approach to piano teaching that guides students toward achieving their goals.
Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with approximately 2,600 students. It is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania. The college was founded in 1832.
