Pianists at the Sunderman Conservatory study to become whole pianists in the context of an excellent liberal arts education.
Piano training at the Sunderman Conservatory focuses on mindful, physically comfortable practice that leads to the joyful, fearless performance of many different styles of music. Students are likely to sing, dance, or make up a story to explore the interpretation of a phrase; or to bounce on a ball or stomp their feet to feel rhythm; or to write out a separate "theory map" to solidify harmonic memory. The emphasis is on creative, efficient strategies for fun and comfortable practice and performance.
