Using the Power of Communication to Influence Outcomes

Presenter: Darryl Jones

We will elevate the art of interaction to win desired outcomes. Examples – influencing a recruit to choose Gettysburg; negotiating to win; convincing others to understand and accept your perspective in a discussion or disagreement or conversation.


Program: Communicating Across the Division

Objectives:

Participants will:

  • gain an understanding of each department’s role within the EES Division
  • discuss solutions for common challenges shared within the EES Division
  • learn strategies to communicate wants
  • network with colleagues

Program: StrengthsQuest

Objectives:

  • To provide the opportunity for participants to build relationships with each other
  • To help participants gain a better understanding of personal talents
  • To help participants identify strategies for transforming personal talents into strengths in their personal and professional work.

Learning Outcomes: As a result of the session, participants will be able…

  • To describe the importance and benefits of the strengths-based approach to success
  • To define their top five Signature Themes
  • To identify at least one way to transform a talent into a strength and use it throughout their work

Program: Public Speaking and Presentation Skills

Presenter: Darryl Jones

Objectives:

  • To provide the opportunity for participants to build relationships with each other
  • To help participants gain a better understanding of effective presentation skills
  • To help participants identify strategies to enhance their public speaking and presentation skills

Learning Outcomes: As a result of the session, participants will be able…

  • To describe the importance of effective communication
  • To identify one or two areas for improvement to become a more engaging speaker
  • To identify at least two strategies to assist in delivering effective oral presentations
