Gettysburg College has received funding from the Mellon Foundation to support curricular development grants. Each grant provides a $2000.00 stipend. This opportunity is open to all full-time continuing faculty in Division 1 (Arts and Humanities). Up to five grants will be awarded for Summer, 2018, with additional grants available in subsequent years over the lifetime of the grant.

 This grant opportunity has three goals:

  1. Encourage the development of courses that incorporate diverse perspectives and content;
  2. Strengthen departments’ overall course offerings and help diversify the major and minor;
  3. Support the Strategic Plan goal of infusing “more diverse perspectives into courses across all academic departments and programs.”

Grant recipients are expected to design a new course or substantially redesign an existing course. Although diversity of perspectives and content may take many forms, proposals that aim to bring in scholarship or creative work by a more diverse range of authors or performers, expose students to a wider range of voices or kinds of expertise, address topics not previously covered, or use different pedagogical approaches are encouraged. Grants applications will be reviewed by the Associate Provost for Pedagogical Initiatives and the JCCTL Advisory Board. The JCCTL will administer the grants.
