Psychology and Spanish Linguistics Majors, Latin American Studies Minor

Favorite abroad experience:

My favorite experience abroad was being more immersed in the Spanish culture through interacting with the local population. I had class with Spanish students at the public university and was able to experience student life in Spain. Through one of my classmates, I even met a family who needed an English tutor and tutored three children weekly in English lessons. By taking a risk and going out of my comfort zone, I was able to meet friends with people who could truly show me the Spanish culture and now feel like I have a home away from home.

Why I joined GLGC:

I joined GLGC because I wanted to share what I learned from my abroad experience with advice I wished I would have known prior to leaving. I especially want to encourage future students who go abroad to take every opportunity they can to experience the culture, even if it may be new and unfamiliar.

Plans after graduation:

I want to hopefully attend graduate school in School Counseling in the future and if possible, find a position teaching English abroad for a year or two once I graduate to continue my abroad experiences.
