Students play a huge role with sustainability on the Gettysburg College campus. Several students work independently, through their classes, and through existing organizations to decrease the campus’ ecological footprint and improve overall sustainability.
Currently students are part of several campus groups, each with themes relating to sustainability. These groups work independently and together to raise awareness about sustainability efforts on campus and around the world, through programming, events, panels, and other creative and green measures.
Currently there are four sustainability-themed groups on campus:
- Gettysburg Environmental Concerns Organization (G.E.C.O.)
- Farmhouse: The Sustainability and Social Justice Theme House
- Painted Turtle Farm: A student-run organic garden
- Biosphere: An academic club dedicated to the pursuit of the sciences.
Each of these groups is always looking for new faces so feel free to join in, even in the middle of the semester!
