Beginning in 2007, Gettysburg College annually competes in RecycleMania, a nationwide event to help campuses reduce waste. Over a 10 week period, schools race to recycle the most glass, aluminum, paper, and whatever else they can find! This increases student and employee awareness of recycling as well as serves as a benchmark for baseline data of waste on campus. In its first two years of competition Gettysburg College posted strong results.

Gettysburg placed second in Pennsylvania and 53rd nationally in 2007.

In 2008, Gettysburg College placed eighth in the state and 75th nationally while the number of participating institutions doubled to 400 in 2008.

In 2010, Gettysburg College placed 217th nationally.

In 2011, Gettysburg College placed 223rd nationally.

In 2012, Gettysburg College placed 99th nationally.

In 2013, Gettysburg College placed 202nd nationally.
