Minor Requirements

The minor in Civil War Era Studies is a rotation of six courses on various aspects of the American Civil War and American culture in the Civil War Era (1848-1877). Of these six courses, two are required:

  • CWES 205 INTRODUCTION TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA
  • CWES 400 AMERICAN CULTURE IN THE CIVIL WAR ERA

Then, Civil War Era minors select four courses from the following:

  • AFS 221 CIVIL WAR & CIVIL RIGHTS
  • FYS 183 GETTYSBURG
  • FYS 191 TWO POETS IN A LAND OF WAR: WALT WITMAN, EMILY DICKINSON AND THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR
  • IDS 217 THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR ON FILM
