FYS-124 Dirty Dirty Science – A Dive Into Terrestrial

Instructor: Lecturer and Hygiene Officer Jeremy John Kuhar
Department: Chemistry

Course Description:
This seminar is an entirely lab-focused endeavor, focused on field and laboratory explorations of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of the eastern US. We will design our experiments as a class, and then collect our samples during multiple field trips to the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore, Gettysburg, and possibly even Rhode Island. Our goal is to develop your lab skills at the onset of your college career. We’ll touch on topics ranging from general chemistry to advanced ecology, and all the while, you’ll be working with your classmates to analyze the data, discuss it, and present it in written and oral form. Field trips are a must! As is group participation. So if you love lab, join us!
