Equally at home slogging through Marsh Creek to find snails for her independent research as she is in a practice room with her violin, Caitlin would not have been able to come to Gettysburg College were it not for her Presidential Scholarship.

She is an outstanding student: double major in biology and environmental science, minor in music, violinist with Sunderman Strings and the orchestra, and a prime mover in the College's "green" efforts as a member of the sustainability committee.

Her passions converged during her study abroad in Copenhagen last fall. Not only was she able to attend the U.N.'s COP15 climate change conference, but she also volunteered at the world's first carbon-neutral music festival.

"I found my niche in promoting sustainability," Caitlin said. "As one of five kids from a single-income family, the College's financial support allowed me to attend Gettysburg. The final decision for choosing a college was based on financial aid."
