As president of Gettysburg College, I know just how dependent we are on the support of alumni, families, students, and friends to offer a first-rate liberal arts education. I never take that support for granted, and I am always moved when I see so many people step up to help. In our most recent fund year, which ended on May 31, more than 10,000 Gettysburgians joined together to raise $26.2 million in commitments to advance Gettysburg’s mission. On behalf of the College and our students, I’d like to offer a sincere note of thanks to all who contributed.
I’m also pleased to announce that we broke a record once again this year with gifts totaling $3.53 million for the Gettysburg Fund—due, in part, to the 2,269 new donors in May who helped us exceed our 1832 Donor Challenge. I am grateful to all who gave gifts of time, talent, and financial support this year. These gifts—every one of them—enrich the Gettysburg experience for our current students and reinforce the strong tradition of service and giving back that is central to our mission as a College.
We are already gearing up for the arrival of the Class of 2017, and we want to ensure that this class, and those that follow, benefit from the outstanding learning opportunities that are the hallmark of a Gettysburg College education. When you receive your class letter, email, or call from one of our students, I hope you will choose to continue supporting Gettysburg College in whatever way you can.
Once again, thank you for your support this year. Please take a moment to view this special thank you video from the entire Gettysburg College community.
