Postponement and regalia

Message sent April 10, 2020

Katie Barako, Special Projects Coordinator in the President’s Office, sent the following message to seniors on April 10, 2020.

Dear Seniors,

We hope that you are all doing well and have settled into your new online learning routine.

We appreciate the responses and feedback about Commencement that we received from the survey we sent you last week. More than 80% of the Class of 2020 responded, which is phenomenal! The vast majority of those who responded said they wanted to have an on-campus ceremony later this year, and so we will proceed with this as our plan. Current circumstances, however, prevent us from scheduling a definite date at this point because we still do not know when it will be safe to have public gatherings. We will continue to keep you updated as the health situation becomes clearer and we are able to make more concrete plans, so you and your family can make necessary arrangements.

Despite the delay in the in-person Commencement Ceremony, we do not want May 17 to pass unnoticed. We are brainstorming ideas for how we can best virtually recognize the Class of 2020 on that day, and details will be forthcoming.

Many of you have asked about regalia. Some want to know if there will be refunds for pre-purchased regalia, some have asked for the regalia to be shipped to them, and others want to know if they are still able to order regalia. I have good news for everyone. For those who have pre-ordered, the regalia vendor (Oak Hall) will automatically cancel your order and give you a full refund. If you do not want to receive regalia, you do not need to do anything.

If you still wish to purchase regalia, Oak Hall has re-opened the online ordering form for you to use: gettysburg.shopoakhalli.com. You will have to re-order your regalia and give your home mailing address so that your regalia can be shipped directly to you. Please use this link also if you were planning to purchase your regalia at Prep Day. Oak Hall will bill the College for the cost of shipping, so your regalia will still cost $56. You will not need to pay for shipping.

You may have already received an email from Oak Hall with a link to ordering details. If have not yet received an email from Oak Hall, you should receive more information from them in the coming days.

We appreciate your patience as we work through the details of this unprecedented situation.

Regards,
Katie
