The Civil War Institute Summer Conference at Gettysburg College is a four day program held in June. The conference includes lectures, battlefield tours, breakout sessions, and other special activities. The CWI has sponsored this summer conference since 1983.
Scholarships to attend the annual Civil War Institute summer conference are available for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors (meaning at the time of the conference in late June, these students would be rising juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates). There are also scholarships available for public historians and Gettysburg College students.
A full scholarship covers an air-conditioned dorm room, meals for the duration of the conference, and tuition fees. Transportation costs are NOT covered by scholarship funds.
Students who have a genuine interest in the Civil War may apply for a scholarship by including the following with their application.
The deadline for the high school student application is March 15 at 4:00 p.m. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail as soon as a decision has been made after March 31st.
