The office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Allie plus Life (LGBTQIA+ LIFE) exist to serve members of the Gettysburg College community as they live and learn alongside one another. LGBTQIA+ LIFE offers a range of social and educational programming. The office strives to be a welcoming and inclusive community for all members of the LGBTQIA+ LIFE community and seeks to celebrate and affirm all intersecting identities within the community.
Gettysburg College has a strong LGBTQIA+ LIFE community of students, faculty, and staff. The college takes pride in its Gender Neutral Housing Program that allows individuals to live with whomever they choose, regardless of sex or gender.
nGender is a bi-weekly meeting for students to dialogue around gender issues. Join us for a lively and honest discussion on alternate Tuesdays from 11:45 a.m. -1:00 p.m. in the Women’s & LGBTQIA Resource Center. Bring your own lunch!
The LGBTQIA group is available to provide support for all students in relation to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and gender expression. All sessions are confidential and free. Outerspace at Gettysburg College works to create a supportive space on campus for LGBTQIA+ LIFE/queer-identified students as well as a place for supporters to learn more about the community. Outerspace is an inclusive environment where students can socialize, share experiences, and discuss how a person’s intersecting identities shape their experiences. Outerspace aims to improve the campus climate for all LGBTQIA+ LIFE/queer students and provide an open space for them to be themselves.
QHouse raises awareness about social justice issues, queer life on campus, and LGBTQIA+ LIFE issues at Gettysburg and in the world at large. In order to create an atmosphere not only of equality, but also one of safety, QHouse maintains an open room for any student who may feel threatened because of their perceived gender/sexual orientation/identity, race, faith or lack thereof, or any other reason.
