Gettysburg College has been named one of the “2016 Great Colleges to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education in their annual survey released earlier this month. This latest survey marks the 8th year the College has received this recognition from The Chronicle.
“There are many things that make Gettysburg College a great place to work, but what really distinguishes us is the people. We have a fabulous community of faculty and administrative and support staff who are dedicated to our mission. They are extraordinary people who teach, prepare, and inspire our students to do extraordinary things and who value each others' contributions to carrying out that mission,” President Janet Morgan Riggs ’77 said.
Gettysburg was recognized for its facilities, workspace and security, job satisfaction, professional/career development programs, teaching environment, and work-life balance.
The survey, which was administered by ModernThink LLC, was based on the collective responses of 46,000 campus employees at 281 institutions across the nation. In total, 93 colleges were recognized and 42 – including Gettysburg – made the Honor Roll. Honor Roll status, for four-year colleges, was given to the 10 institutions of each size cited most often across all of the recognition categories. Gettysburg College is the only Pennsylvania institution listed in the Honor Roll category for small schools.
“Great Colleges to Work For” is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. Gettysburg has also been named one of the "Best Places to Work in PA" for 13 consecutive years.
