On campus, members of the Gettysburg College community proudly wore their orange and blue, and students signed a “Thank you” banner in support of those who gave during the 8th annual Gettysburgives Challenge. Around the world, generous Gettysburgians rallied on February 23 and 24—raising $2,078,810 to directly support the Gettysburg College student experience.
Prior to the Challenge, our Board of Trustees, emeriti trustees, and 24 generous alumni, parents, and friends committed $1.3 million to inspire fellow Gettysburgians to make a gift during Gettysburgives. An additional $738,810 was then donated by 2,612 alumni, parents, employees, and friends during the 36-hours of the Challenge.
“My colleagues and I are profoundly grateful to the alumni, students, families, and fellow employees whose gifts made the Gettysburgives Challenge a success,” said Tres Mullis P’23, vice president for College Advancement. “Each and every Gettysburg student will benefit from this amazing outpouring of support. The generous spirit of the Gettysburg community is nothing short of inspirational.”
Bullets set the tone
From November 30 through December 1, the College hosted its second annual Bullets Teams Challenge—an accompanying initiative to Gettysburgives. This year, the Orange & Blue Club saw nearly 1,500 donors raise record totals of more than $251,950, surpassing its $200,000 goal in support of our intercollegiate varsity athletics program. Standout contributions included the women’s lacrosse team which collected the greatest number of donations with 148. In terms of the total amount raised, men’s lacrosse was one of five programs to raise more than $23,000, topping all Bullets teams with $31,167.
Reunion classes go head-to-head
A total of 512 alumni honored their graduation milestones by participating in this year’s Reunion Challenge, as part of Gettysburgives. Ultimately, the great Class of 1992 finished with the most number of its classmates making a gift during the Challenge.
To commemorate their impressive showing, the Class of 1992 will have their class flag proudly flown atop the Cupola during their reunion this June. Congratulations, Class of ’92 alumni!

- Gettysburg parents had an incredible show of support with 704 parents of current students and alumni making a gift. The Class of 2023 finished in the lead!
- Mathematics had the numbers in the end and came out on top of all other majors – way to go!
- Gettysburgives was truly a worldwide event with gifts travelling all the way from Australia, Bulgaria and China.
- At the last minute Women’s Basketball took a shot for first and…SWOOSH!
