Nestled between bustling, moving metropolises and a rolling countryside that bore witness to defining moments throughout American history, Gettysburg College is a place that celebrates the power of place. While memory is an aspect of history, of documenting what was and who was, we know that history is much more than memory alone. Rather, it is a living and breathing entity that continues to thread itself into the here and now.
Inspired by the history of the College and the memories created here, we pulled archival winter photos from the College’s Special Collections in Musselman Library to create a living and breathing scrapbook that transports viewers through the decades to the present moment—a tapestry of stories of all those who have walked our snowy paths and hallowed halls, twisting and tying together with Gettysburgians currently here and those yet to come.
May you create new memories this winter—ones that you will continue to cherish for years to come. We wish our entire Gettysburg College community a happy and healthy holiday season!
