Watch videos from our student curators!

Student curation is something the Art and Art History Department promotes, and the Schmucker Gallery exhibition “The Plains of Mars: European War Prints, 1500-1825”, on loan from the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, gave us the chance to take this to another level. Art History majors Melissa Casale ’19 and Bailey Harper ’19 worked with Prof. Felicia Else and Gallery Director Shannon Egan on the catalog and wall labels for this important exhibition, the first time students have curated a large show in the main Gallery space. Please hear them talk about this amazing experience, as they worked with masterpieces by artists like Albrecht Dürer, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Théodore Géricault and Francisco Goya and grappled with themes such as warfare and atrocities over the ages. See their catalog entries for the exhibition.
