Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students are eligible and encouraged to participate in affiliated global study programs. However, study outside the United States is not advisable since September 5, 2017, when USCIS decided to no longer approve applications for DACA advance parole.
The Center for Global Education is committed to supporting every Gettysburg student, and we stand with DACAmented and undocumented students. We are working with NAFSA to advocate for the return of study abroad opportunities for students with DACA status, and permanent protection for Dreamers.
At this time, DACAmented and undocumented students wishing to pursue a semester of global study are strongly urged to consider one of the Center for Global Education affiliated programs in the United States.
- Beaufort, NC – Marine Laboratory (Duke University): Students work at the forefront of understanding marine environmental systems, their conservation, and governance by taking classes and participating in cutting-edge multi-disciplinary research on aspects of marine ecosystems and the human communities that depend on them.
- Washington, D.C.- Lutheran College Washington Semester: Live, study and intern in Washington DC, one of the most dynamic, exciting and powerful cities in the world.
