Gettysburg 2.0 spring meetings

February 5, 2026

Dear Colleagues,

With our spring semester underway, I’d like to share a brief update on Gettysburg 2.0 and invite you to join us to hear more about this important project in the semester ahead.

As you may recall, Gettysburg 2.0 represents a focused and ambitious effort to chart a bold, compelling, and dynamic future for the College. That work starts with a reaffirmation and renewed commitment to the enduring value of a liberal arts education. It also recognizes, however, that society and higher education are undergoing seismic, generational changes. In that environment, Gettysburg 2.0 asks the College to adapt our methods and structures to respond to what today’s and tomorrow’s students need. It is necessary and inspiring work.

To that end, the first steps to conceptualize Gettysburg 2.0 began last academic year. Most recently, several working groups of faculty and administrators have been meeting to develop ideas informed by what we are currently testing with prospective students in the market. They have been guided by two central questions: “What should a Gettysburg education look like for future generations?” And: “How do we ensure the College continues to thrive well into its third century?”

To date, the work has been intentionally iterative. We have early insights from fall market research, but we do not yet have the full set of findings. As a result, the groups are refining ideas based on what is being tested—not generating definitive recommendations about what we might consider doing as a College. This approach allows us to explore potential ideas in some depth and give us a significant head start once the full research is complete.

We’d like to invite you to join a Gettysburg 2.0 meeting this semester to share what we know so far from the research, to outline the process and upcoming timeline, and to hear directly from the 2.0 coordinators about how they are approaching their work.

We expect to receive the full market research findings in late April and anticipate convening an employee meeting at that time to share what we have learned and think together about how the research might inform our next steps. The efforts underway this year are designed to prepare us for that moment.

I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of this project to date and hope you will consider joining us for one of the upcoming sessions.
