Wi-Fi and Internet access

Information Technology has worked with our residential partners to ensure that students have access to fast Internet.

Reporting issues

Students should report any ongoing technical issues with Wi-Fi or Ethernet (cabled Internet) to G-TECH.

Gettysburg Hotel

Internet access at the Gettysburg Hotel:

  • Wi-Fi access only.
  • Prior to the students moving in the Hotel increased their bandwidth to a 1 Gbps circuit.
  • However, the gateway was not handling the number of devices so they increased its capacity (completed the weekend of August 29–30).
  • Additionally 30 hotspots were distributed to students to help alleviate some of the problems.

Presidential Inn and Suites

Internet access at the Presidential Inn and Suites:

  • There was a provider (Comcast) issue that has since been resolved.
  • The hotel increased the number of access points saying this issue should have been resolved by late evening on September 1.
  • Additionally 5 hotspots were distributed to students to help alleviate some of the problems.

Super 8

For Internet access at the Super 8, 15 hotspots were distributed to students to help alleviate some of the problems.

Seminary

Internet access at the Seminary:

  • Baughmann Hall: should have decent wifi coverage. All rooms have at least 1 Ethernet jack and should include the bedroom, living room, and possibly kitchen
  • Aberley Hall: should have decent wifi coverage. All rooms have at least 1 Ethernet jack and should include the bedroom, living room, and possibly kitchen
  • Heiges Hall: does not have wifi. All rooms have at least 1 Ethernet jack and should include the bedroom, living room, and possibly kitchen
  • Students need to connect to the BLUE data jack only.
  • Students can bring in a wireless router and connect in any building.
  • They have a T-Mobile tower on campus, but wifi hotspots are not recommended.

If students need to contact the Seminary for network support, they need to email ithelp@uls.edu.

Teaching tents

To help improve outdoor Wi-Fi, IT moved one access point and increased its signal strength. Hotspots were also provided for the Sentinel tent to faculty that requested it.

Majestic Theater

IT has also installed two Wi-Fi access points in the Majestic to help with the classes that are being taught there.
