The College’s Return to Work plan provides guidance, options, and expectations will keep our workplace safe and allow employees to be flexible.

Expectations and guidelines

In the spirit of care and concern for colleagues and students, all faculty, administrators, and support staff need not sign an official agreement, but are expected to comply with these policies, protocols, and guidelines as part of Gettysburg College’s Workplace Expectations and Guidelines:

  1. Symptom monitoring requirement
  2. Campus health and safety practices
  3. Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  4. Creating a safe workspace
  5. If you exhibit symptoms
  6. Phased return and staffing options
  7. Employee health and well-being

During this unprecedented time, Gettysburg College will continue to focus on the health and safety of students, faculty, administrators, support staff, and the entire College community. The health and well-being of our campus community is paramount for a safe return to campus.  There will be a heightened awareness of the responsibilities we owe to one another, as we seek to protect each other’s health and well-being. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Guiding principles

The Employee Health and Safety Transition Team developed the Gettysburg College Return to Work Plan to provide guidance for faculty, administrators, and support staff to transition back to work on-campus safely. This plan was specifically shaped to address the increasing compliance and safety requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Team observed the following guiding principles:

  • Prioritize the health and safety of Gettysburg College faculty, administrators and support staff
  • Support Gettysburg College’s academic mission
  • Balance flexibility and institutional productivity
  • Communicate with employees in a timely and transparent manner

The return plan will continue to evolve as we learn more about the COVID-19 pandemic and public health challenges and requirements. Our primary focus is to create guidance that will keep our workplace safe and allow employees to be flexible.

The College will also give attention to federal and state guidelines relating to COVID-19 and will continue to seek guidance from health and safety experts to inform institutional decisions.
