The Sunderman Piano Institute at Gettysburg College is for pianists 12-17 years old who desire to improve their performance skills, collaborate with other pianists, and dive deeply into related musical subjects of their choice. Pianists will have opportunities to perform in daily studio class, and the final Friday concert will showcase pianists in both solo and ensemble works.

Based at Schmucker Hall at Gettysburg College, the Summer Piano Program will have full access to the beautiful 225-seat recital hall, music classrooms, and practice rooms. Students board in double and triple dormitory rooms on campus and are supervised by trained RAs. Meals will be at the dining hall, and scheduled evening activities will be on campus and in walking distance in town.

The piano faculty, Drs. Jocelyn Swigger and Vivian Chang-Freiheit, each have over 20 years experience teaching pianists, from beginners to conservatory students, and a wide range of related musical subjects. Their mission is to give pianists the opportunity to challenge themselves as performers and broaden their musical experiences within a warm, supportive and engaging environment. By design, class sizes are small, allowing for more individualized instruction and strong collaborations with peers.
