Consider Graduate and Professional School
Our staff and resources can help you learn more about graduate school. We work with students and alumni to:
- Determine if graduate school is the appropriate choice. If so, when is the best time to attend?
- Identify program(s) that fit with your career and personal goals.
- Assist with the application process, review personal statements, and offer on-campus prep programs for some entrance exams.
Health Professions Advising
Gettysburg College helps students meet the challenges of planning for and applying to medical school and other graduate programs in the health professions. Katy Mattson, Director of Career Counseling, is the Health Professions Advisor and Chair of the Health Professions Committee. She, together with all members of the Committee (Josef Brandauer, Health Sciences, Matt Kittelberger & Jennifer Powell, Biology, and Donald Jameson, Chemistry), advises students interested in health professions. Students can schedule an appointment with Katy through Handshake or visit Career Engagement during her drop-ins (Monday and Fridays from 2-4).The Committee annually meets with students by class year to offer guidance in pre-requisites and experiential opportunities required for graduate school. While students coordinate their own experiential opportunities, Career Engagement can help provide possible options including, but not limited to, our externship and job shadowing programs.
