HR - Benefits

Post-retirement employment

  • The Retirement Healthcare Savings Plan is a benefit program offered via Gettysburg College. Because it is a post-retirement health program, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that the employee be retired from the College in order to access the benefits (VEBA and Grantor Trust money and access to Medicare supplement plans) provided by the program. Therefore, the retirees may not work on a part-time basis at the College and have access to the postretirement benefits.

Updated Policy: Email Usage Policy

Information Technology made updates to the College’s Email Usage Policy to better protect student and college-owned information. The most important change is the prohibition of auto-forwarding college email to external accounts (such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, etc.).

This change means that retirees who wish to maintain access to their college email accounts will need to actively log in and check their accounts directly rather than relying on automatic forwarding. We understand this represents a change in practice and are available to provide guidance on managing your account access.
