The Opening Convocation ceremony will mark the beginning of the 193rd year of Gettysburg College.
Convocation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 outside of Penn Hall, after students move into their Residence Halls. The Class of 2028 and new transfer students will be welcomed to the Gettysburg community by President Bob Iuliano, the Student Senate President, and other members of the campus community.
Convocation is the formal welcome to the academic community at Gettysburg College. In keeping with tradition, students typically wear dress pants or shorts, dresses, skirts, polo/plain shirts, blouses, etc. Students will have time to return to their room to prepare for Convocation after meeting with their Orientation group.
Parents and family members are invited to attend Convocation; there is no recommended attire. Students will be seated with their Orientation groups.
