Visiting Gettysburg

There are a lot of wonderful things we could tell you about Gettysburg College, but to gain a true sense of our beautiful campus and the urban, historical, and natural attractions that surround it, you need to come and see for yourself.

Just 80 minutes from the culture and history of Washington, D.C., an hour from Baltimore, and 45 minutes from the state capital of Harrisburg, Gettysburg's architecturally compelling campus is an oasis in the midst of America's most famous historic small town, with its array of restaurants and shops and opulent Majestic Theater. Our 200-acre campus blends into the adjacent Gettysburg National Military Park, where the Civil War's pivotal battle determined America's destiny, and is not far from three excellent ski and snowboarding resorts, great caving and climbing, challenging whitewater, and the renowned Appalachian Trail.

At Gettysburg College, we make every attempt to personalize your visit with a range of options throughout the year, from a candid one-hour student-guided tour to an overnight stay. You'll get an unvarnished look at the academic buildings, the library, the dining hall, the campus center, athletic facilities, a residence hall room, and anything else you'd like to see. It's your tour - help us customize it to fit your interests. And afterward, once you've experienced the campus, checked out the resources, eaten the food, and - most importantly - talked to the people here, we're confident that you, like many visitors before you, will find yourself saying, "You know, it just feels right."
