President Bob Iuliano elected board vice chair of American Council on Education

This summer, Gettysburg College President Bob Iuliano was elected vice chair of the American Council on Education (ACE) Board of Directors. His term will begin on October 1, 2026.

“American higher education plays a pivotal role in expanding opportunity, strengthening our economy, and preparing students to address the most consequential challenges of our time. And yet, we know that colleges and universities are also navigating a period of extraordinary change and growing complexity,” said Iuliano. “ACE brings our nation’s greatest institutions—like Gettysburg—together to advocate for our shared interests and advance the enduring value of higher education. I am deeply honored to serve as the next vice chair of ACE’s Board of Directors and partner alongside inspiring leaders from across the country to help shape a strong and sustainable future.”

Iuliano was appointed the 15^th president of Gettysburg College in 2019. Under Iuliano’s leadership, Gettysburg College has experienced one of its most transformative periods in its nearly 200-year history, including the introduction of a new core curriculum; a new visual identity; new majors and minors; new sports teams; new master’s programs and partnerships; new campus spaces and renovations; historic fundraising success; and the launch of the Gettysburg Approach—designed to provide every student with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a world marked by change.

Upon arriving at Gettysburg, Iuliano helped the College navigate the COVID-19 global pandemic. Today, he is spearheading campus initiatives focused on alumni mentorship, artificial intelligence, and an ambitious next chapter for the institution—known campus-wide as Gettysburg 2.0.

Iuliano’s vision for Gettysburg ensures that every student from every background is the beneficiary of a rigorous, residential liberal arts and sciences education, one with compelling career and personal outcomes, positioning them to grow into the effective leaders and socially responsible citizens our society needs.
