Consequential Interactions: Faculty inspire great work

Our first-class faculty believe in our students’ potential to Do Great Work and lead lives of meaning and consequence after graduation.

During his sophomore year, French major Will Oehler ’26 from Hollis, New Hampshire, sat in Prof. Florence Jurney’s office trying to figure out his next steps. His foray into an introductory chemistry course wasn’t going well and he was worried how it would impact his remaining time at Gettysburg College. Empathic to his needs, Jurney helped Oehler learn how to overcome obstacles to reach goals.

In the lab, students are involved in every step of the research process, often spending years collaborating on projects and gaining expertise on the specific details that rival Buettner’s own knowledge.

4. Support a Guided Pathways experience by making a gift.

Parent to parent: A feeling of belonging at Gettysburg College

Do you remember the time when our children were home all day long? They took their classes from their laptops in their rooms while many of us worked on laptops in other rooms. We were all together every day—morning to night—isolated and sometimes quarantined due to a strange, new virus spreading throughout the world. During that time, we missed proms, sporting events, and life events like weddings, births, and funerals. It was the time of COVID, and we were all learning how to navigate this new reality.
