Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research provides accurate and timely data and analysis for institutional planning and decision-making, assessment, enhancement of the student experience, and reporting. It serves as a reliable source of official institutional statistics about the College.

Major activities:

  • Collecting and analyzing data and producing research reports that assess learning environments, student engagement, satisfaction, and learning outcomes, alumni outcomes, and other aspects of educational effectiveness
  • Compiling and updating the annual Fact Book, Facts & Figures, and Fact of the Week
  • Conducting retention studies and providing enrollment projections (summer melt/fall enrollment projections; 5-yr projections)
  • Performing special research and data analyses for the senior leadership
  • Completing external reporting 
  • Conducting peer benchmarking
  • Developing and updating data visualizations - interactive dashboards - to promote campus utilization of institutional data, highlight student outcomes, and support student success
  • Responding to data requests from internal constituencies
  • Assisting with accreditation activities and program reviews

Note about the Office website: Most of the site is open to the general public; some resources are restricted to users with Gettysburg College network credentials.
