All Gettysburg students interested in receiving consideration for need-based financial aid, including Gettysburg College grants or Federal Direct Loans, must complete a new financial aid application each year.

  • Submit the FAFSA. Gettysburg College code: 003268

NOTE: The CSS Profile is not required for continuing students. Additional information may be required for first-time financial aid applicants; contact the Office of Financial Aid for more details.

Information about the FAFSA for academic year 2023-2024

  • Available October 1 (FAFSA due April 1)
  • Includes 2021 federal tax information

Recommended: Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool

We recommend that students and families utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool in the FAFSA to directly import completed 2021 Federal Tax information.

For special circumstances (i.e. marriage or divorce since 2021, job loss, etc.) please contact your financial aid counselor for additional guidance. Families can request the Change in Finances Form to provide updated information for financial aid consideration.

What if I am selected for verification by the Department of Education?

The Office of Financial Aid will follow up with students who, after submitting the FAFSA, have been selected for Federal Financial Aid Verification by the Department of Education to collect additional information.

Is other information needed?

If a FAFSA is selected for Federal Financial Aid Verification, families may need to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool/submit tax return transcript(s) or provide a copy of the complete signed income tax return (1040 with schedules), complete the Gettysburg College Verification Worksheet, and submit any other information requested by the Office of Financial Aid to complete Federal Financial Aid Verification requirements.

Additional information may be required for first-time financial aid applicants; contact the Office of Financial aid for more details.

When will I be notified of my financial aid?

Financial aid notifications for returning students will be available in late July. Returning students will view their financial aid via Campus Experience. Paper copies will not be mailed home.

Financial aid typically remain consistent from year to year; however, a decrease in the number of siblings in undergraduate study or increases in income or assets may cause a decrease in need-based financial aid eligibility, including Gettysburg College Grant funds.

Fall billing statements, which reflect anticipated financial aid funds, will be distributed by the Student Accounts Office in late July and are due by August 14. Contact the Student Accounts office at 717-337-6220 for information about the monthly payment plan options.

Additional FAFSA Information

The student and parent will need a FSA ID in order to complete the Renewal FAFSA. Create a FSA ID at: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

Although not recommended, the FAFSA can be completed by mail; a paper version can be obtained by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FEDAID or by printing a copy.
