The Sunderman Conservatory of Music offers a full range of music ensembles -- choral, band, orchestra and jazz. Musically speaking, there is something for everyone. From voices raised in song to the thunderous half-time performances of the marching band ... from orchestral concertos that echo through the Majestic Theater to the rhythms of percussion to the eclectic styles and sounds of jazz ... each musical talent at the Conservatory finds its home in performing ensembles.

The band program consists of the Wind Symphony, the Symphony Band, and the Bullets Marching Band. The Wind Symphony and Symphony Band perform at Gettysburg’s Majestic Theatre, as well as at other venues in the area; the Bullets Marching Band performs at all home football games and other musical events. The marching band is known as The Pride of the Centennial Conference and with good reason.

The choral program provides opportunities for singers at all levels of expertise and experience. There are four ensembles to choose from, including the College Choir, Concert Choir, Audeamus (upper-voices), and Camerata (vocal chamber music). Choirs perform in large concerts every semester, and a variety of smaller performances every year. Some groups tour regionally, and even internationally. Whether you are an experienced singer or just starting out, there are many ways to sing at Gettysburg College.

For those more drawn to the cool sounds of jazz, the Conservatory offers the Jazz Ensemble. This group is an auditioned ensemble of 18 to 20 students, playing all styles of jazz -- swing, Latin, fusion, bop and standards from the Big Band Era. The Jazz Ensemble has performed at jazz festivals around the campus and around the world. In addition, interested students can audition for Jazz Dispatch, a small group focused on improvisation.

The Symphony Orchestra performs a wide variety of masterpieces of orchestral music, from the Baroque period through the present. Orchestra also provides a platform for student soloists through its annual Concerto Competition.

The Percussion Ensemble rehearses and performs at the historic Majestic Theater. The group presents its own performances, while also performing in partnership with the Jazz Ensemble on occasion - resulting in a spirited combination of music literature.
