Contemporary Latin American literature & cinema, literary translation, animal studies and environmental humanities

Aarón Lacayo is an Assistant Professor and Mellon Faculty Fellow at Gettysburg College in the Spanish Department. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature with a certificate in Cinema Studies and a M.A. in Spanish, both from Rutgers University. His research and teaching interests include contemporary Latin American literature and cinema, literary translation, animal studies and the environmental humanities. His current research focuses on the intersections of ecology, politics and violence in contemporary Central American cinema. He has published articles about contemporary cinema, poetry and translation. He has also translated the Salvadorean novella, La han despedido de nuevo (They Have Fired Her Again) by Claudia Hernández and Gordon Matta-Clark’s visual poetry, Art Cards/Fichas de arte.
