Jenny was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and learned Spanish while spending a year studying abroad at a high school in Quito, Ecuador. Since then, Jenny has continued her study of the Spanish language at the University of Cincinnati, where she received her B.A., and at the University of New Mexico, where she completed her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, in addition to spending time abroad in 8 different Spanish-speaking countries. Her research areas include syntax, sociolinguistics, bilingualism, and the intersection of the three. As a teacher, she enjoys helping students discover the variety of new cultural, linguistic, social and scholarly opportunities that become available to them as they learn a foreign language.
