Gettysburg’s Majestic Theater marks 100th anniversary celebration

The Majestic Theater will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a star-studded performance and gala that showcase the theater’s enduring role as a cultural hub and gathering place for the Gettysburg community.

The Majestic Theater will mark its 100th anniversary on Friday, Nov. 14, with a special Centennial Celebration featuring two of the world’s most celebrated musical acts—the GRAMMY Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and renowned Canadian fiddler and step-dancer Natalie MacMaster. The performance will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a Centennial Gala Dinner and Reception at Hotel Gettysburg.

Natalie MacMaster has earned multiple Juno Awards from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

MacMaster has built an international reputation for her electrifying performances that blend traditional Cape Breton fiddling with contemporary flair. Over her multi-decade career, she has released numerous chart-topping albums, earned multiple Juno Awards, and, in 2023, was inducted into the Canadian Fiddle Hall of Honour. She last performed at the Majestic in 2005—the same year the historic theater celebrated its grand reopening—returning now to help commemorate a century of artistic excellence in Gettysburg.

The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, based in New York City, is celebrated for its conductor-less structure and innovative approach to classical music performance. The ensemble has produced more than 70 albums, including the GRAMMY Award-winning recording of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, and has collaborated with some of the most distinguished soloists in the world, from Yo-Yo Ma to Branford Marsalis. Recognized globally for its democratic approach to artistry, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra was one of the first recipients of the Worldwide Award for the Most Democratic Workplaces, recognizing its unique collaborative model.

Guests attending the Centennial Gala will enjoy dinner, an open bar, and the opportunity to celebrate the Majestic’s lasting legacy. Proceeds from the event will support ongoing preservation and programming efforts that ensure the theater continues to serve as a cultural centerpiece for generations to come. Gala tickets must be purchased by Thursday, Nov. 6.

Since opening in 1925, the Majestic Theater has been a cornerstone of arts and culture in downtown Gettysburg, hosting daily films, community events, and performances by both Gettysburg College students and world-renowned artists. Now part of Gettysburg College’s Jennifer and David LeVan Performing Arts Center, the Majestic continues its mission to unite campus and community through shared artistic experiences.

Tickets are available at the Majestic Theater Box Office, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, by calling 717-337-8200, or online at www.gettysburgmajestic.org.
