The attacker is trying to entice the email recipients into clicking the link by offering up to $3780 to eligible students and employees. The link potentially could potentially contain a virus or a place to put in personal information.

Spotting the Phishing

The first thing that you should look at is the greeting. Does it use your actual name, or does it have a generic greeting? Look closely at the email’s header. What is the sender’s email address? The email contains a link that does not appear to match legitimate resources that would be contacting you. Is the URL legitimate?
