Appleford Carriage House
The Appleford Carriage House is located directly behind the Appleford Inn which is located on Carlisle Street. The Appleford Inn houses students participating in the Civil War Era Studies college house.
Appleford Carriage House is a 2-story house that has a capacity of 6 students and includes a full kitchen (including full-size refrigerator and range) and common space on the first floor. The kitchen is not equipped with dinnerware and cookware. The dining area includes a table with chairs. The second floor has two double bedrooms and a full bathroom. The first floor has one double bedroom and a full bathroom. Both bathroom accommodate one person at a time, and are gender-neutral.
Each student is provided with an extra-long (39 inches x 80 inches x 6 1/2 inches) bed; a desk and chair; a dresser and closet space. Students may contact Facilities Services at 717-337-6700 to request the additional pieces necessary to bunk or loft their bed. There is approximately 15 inches between the floor and the bottom of the bed. To gain additional storage space below the bed, students may use bed risers, which are available for purchase at the College Bookstore.
Each student is provided with an extra-long bed (39 inches x 80 inches x 6 1/2 inches), a desk and chair; a dresser and closet space. The beds with wooden bed frames have three notches on each bed end to adjust the height of the bed. The first notch is approximately 13 inches off the floor; the second (middle) notch is approximately 18 inches off the floor; the third notch is approximately 23 inches off the floor. Students may also loft or bunk their beds by acquiring the additional pieces necessary to do so. Lofting the bed allows for furniture such as the dresser, desk, and desk chair to slide underneath the bed. The additional pieces to loft/bunk your bed are available by submitting a Facilities Helpdesk request.
For the beds with metal bed frames, there is approximately 15 inches between the floor and the bottom of the bed. To gain additional storage space below the bed, students may use bed risers.
