Van Horn House

Located along North Washington Street and considered part of the Ice House Complex, Van Horn House is a 2-story house that houses 6 students in two apartments.  Apartment 1, the front portion (along North Washington Street), is a two-person apartment; while Apartment 2, the back portion, is a four-person apartment. Van Horn House is named after W. Raymond Van Horn '27, and his wife, Florence D.  Mr. Van Horn was a realtor, builder, insurer, and banker during his successful career. 

Each apartment at Van Horn House has a full kitchen and dining/common space on the first floor. Apartment 1 has two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. Apartment 2 has one bedroom and a half-bath on the first floor and three bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second floor. All bathrooms accommodate one person at a time and are gender-neutral.

Each student is provided with an extra-long (38 inches x 80 inches x 6 1/2 inches) bed; a desk and chair; a dresser and closet space. 

The bed frames offer adjustable height settings which you can self-adjust:

• 1st notch off the floor (lowest setting) provides 13" between the floor and the bottom of the bed
• 2nd notch off the floor (middle setting) provides approximately 18" between the floor and the bottom of the bed
• 3rd notch off the floor provides 23" between the floor and the bottom of the bed

Students may also choose to have their beds lofted or bunked. Lofted beds allow furniture such as the desk, chair, and dresser to fit underneath. Requests to  loft or bunk your bed must be submitted via a Facilities work order request to Facilities Services.
