Smyser Hall

Smyser HallSmyser Hall, one of four suite-style residence halls for upperclass students, is located on the east side of campus, just a short walk to most academic buildings.

Formerly a motel that was acquired by the College in 2003 and named after Willis M. Smyser '36, Smyser Hall houses 35 students in 19 rooms. Each room has its own bathroom, dedicated heating and air conditioning, and tiled floors. Each bathroom accommodates one person at a time, therefore each bathroom is gender-neutral. Each room also has a MicroFridge, at least one window with a shade, and a mirror.

Each student is furnished with an extra-long bed (39 inches x 80 inches x 6 1/2 inches), a desk with chair; a dresser and closet space.

Bed frames are adjustable and can be set by the student to one of three height options:

  • Lowest setting (1st notch): 13 inches of clearance between the floor and the bottom of the bed
  • Middle setting (2nd notch): Approximately 18 inches of clearance
  • Highest setting (3rd notch): 23 inches of clearance

Students may also choose to have their beds lofted or bunked. Lofted beds allow furniture such as the desk, chair, and dresser to fit underneath. Requests to  loft or bunk your bed must be submitted via a Facilities work order request to Facilities Services.
