Smyser Hall
Smyser Hall, one of four suite-style residence halls for upperclass students, is located on the east side of campus, just a short walk to most academic buildings.
Acquired by the College in 2003 and named after Willis M. Smyer '36, Smyser Hall houses 38 students with two students in each suite. Each suite has its own bathroom and dedicated heating and air conditioning. Each bathroom accommodates one person at a time, therefore each bathroom is gender-neutral.
Formerly a motel, there are 19 rooms in Smyser Hall with one Residence Life student staff member (Community Advisor) living in one of the rooms.
Each room in Smyser Hall has a private bathroom, dedicated heating and air conditioning and tiled floors. Each room also has a MicroFridge, at least one window with a shade, a bookshelf, and mirror (located in the bathroom). Each student is provided with an extra-long bed (39 inches x 80 inches x 6 1/2 inches), a desk and chair; a dresser and closet space. The beds have two lower height settings: the lowest setting has approximately 12 inches between the floor and the bottom of the bed; the other setting provides approximately 18 inches between the floor and the bottom of the bed. Students may also loft or bunk their beds by acquiring the additional pieces necessary to do so. These pieces will be available in your building common space during the first several weeks of the fall semester.
