Joanne Myers received her B.A. in English from the Tutorial College of Ohio University and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago. Before coming to Gettysburg, she was a Lilly Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities at Valparaiso University. She teaches survey courses on Restoration and eighteenth-century British literature, gender and sexuality, and race and empire; at the upper-level, she teaches courses on the development of the novel, Gothic literature, and the complexity of the Enlightenment. Her articles have appeared in Gender & History, Restoration, Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, Eighteenth-Century Fiction, and elsewhere. Her current work focuses on devotional literature in eighteenth-century Britain.
