Study Abroad

The Department offers students the opportunity of spending the Fall semester in Florence, Italy. Italy, one of the G-8 countries and a member of the European Union, is known not only for its history, art, literature and culinary delights, but also for the role it plays in international law, politics and economy.

Syracuse University in Florence serves as Gettysburg College's official affiliated program, and all courses offered there have been approved by Gettysburg College.

  • Students select from an array of courses in Italian language, civilization, history and literature; additionally, there are courses taught in English in areas as diverse as philosophy, economics and Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies.
  • Students who choose to go to Florence may continue their language requirement, diversify their options for requirements for a minor, or simply pursue their interest in Italian language, literature and culture.

Gettysburg's Center for Global Education can provide information about programs offered in collaboration with other colleges.
