Annie Morgan is a trial defense attorney at the Military Commissions Defense Organization (MCDO). Ms. Morgan is responsible for defending the Rule of Law in Guantanamo’s War Courts. In that capacity, she is involved in worldwide investigation of torture and human rights violations. She engages courts of law, the United Nations, the European Union and other international bodies and human rights organizations in the defense of the United States Constitution and Rule of Law.

Ms. Morgan has been detailed as defense counsel for a Mr. Abd al-Rahim Al-Nashiri, a high value detainee facing capital charges. Mr. Al-Nashiri has been detained by the United States Government at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba since 2006 for his alleged involvement in the USS Cole bombing. United States v. Nashiri (Nashiri III), 921 F.3d 224 (D.C. Cir. 2019). 

Prior to joining MCDO, Ms. Morgan served for over eight years as an active duty Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Major. Ms. Morgan commissioned through the Direct Appointment Program and entered active duty in August 2010. While on active duty, Ms. Morgan was assigned as Chief, Legal Assistance and Adverse Actions at RAF Mildenhall, UK; Area Defense Counsel at RAF Lakenhealth, UK; Appellate Defense Counsel at JB Andrews NAF, Maryland; and Civil Litigation Attorney at JB Andrews NAF, Maryland. For her service, Ms. Morgan was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Nuclear Deterrence Operations Medal.

Ms. Morgan holds a Master of Laws degree at Georgetown University (LL.M. 2021). She is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Law (J.D. 2010) and Gettysburg College (B.A. 2006). She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Court of Federal Claims, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.

Ms. Morgan lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, Mr. Andrew Pruitt, and twin daughters, Miranda and Eloise.
