History of US Foreign Relations

Colonel (retired) Leon Perkowski, Ph.D., is an adjunct professor in Public Policy after 30 years of service in the Air Force in the US south, Germany, England, Kosovo, and Israel. In the first half of his career, he oversaw meteorological and environmental services to various military organizations. In the latter half of his military career, Dr. Perkowski held various faculty and administrative positions at Air University and the US Army War College, including as Vice Commandant of Air Command and Staff College.

Dr. Perkowski’s eclectic education includes a BS in meteorology from Cornell University, an MS in Environmental Pollution Control from Pennsylvania State University, an MA in military operational art and science, and a Ph.D. in the History of US Foreign Relations from Kent State University. His academic interests include: deterrence credibility and reputation, national security policy formulation, the Cold War, and global environmental security. His favorite way to relax is to kayak leisurely down a local creek on a beautiful day with his family.
