Ben Greanya, principal bassoon of the Annapolis Symphony, is the newest member of the Sunderman Woodwind Quintet and new bassoon instructor at the Sunderman Conservatory, Gettysburg College. He performed as second bassoon with the Baltimore Symphony in the 2013-14 season and is a frequent guest musician with the Washington National Opera House Orchestra. He has also performed with the National Symphony in Washington, DC.
In addition, Mr. Greanya has played for musical theatre productions at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, and the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, MD. He is a member of Inscape, a contemporary ensemble based in Washington. Inscape has two full-length albums on the Sono Luminus label, including the Grammy nominated Sprung Rhythm.
Mr. Greanya completed his undergraduate studies in music performance at the University of Michigan and graduate work at the New England Conservatory of Music. His primary teachers were Robert Williams, Richard Beene, and Richard Svoboda.
