Prof. Jeffrey Fahnestock, acclaimed as “an outstanding singer with a very well produced leading tenor voice (Süddeutscher Zeitung, München),” has performed a wide range of repertoire across the United States, Great Britain, and Germany.He sings most of the standard oratorio literature for lyric tenor (Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Monteverdi’s Vespers, Bach’s passions and cantatas, etc.).As an operatic soloist, Fahnestock has performed works by Mozart, Britten, Cavalli, Bononcini, Donizetti, Verdi, and Massenet.

Fahnestock is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Yi-Kwei Sze and Seth McCoy, and The Peabody Institute, where his teacher was Stanley Cornett.He was awarded Fellowships for the study of art song and opera at the Tanglewood, Ravinia, and Blossom Music Festivals.He has coached with Gerard Souzay, Ernst Haefliger, Hermann Prey, Reri Grist, Phyllis Curtin, Martin Katz, Warren Jones, Thomas Grubb, and Evelyn Lear, among others.

Currently on the faculties at Gettysburg College and Susquehanna University, Fahnestock teaches applied voice, vocal literature, and lyric diction.He is also the co-director of Susquehanna University’s GO-Japan (Global Opportunities) Program, a chamber music residency at Niigata University and travel to Sado Island and Tokyo. He has recorded for Albany and Guild, and been a featured soloist on radio and television broadcasts in the United States.
