Exhibits in Musselman Library and Special Collections & College Archives Special Collections and College Archives Exhibits Three exhibits on display in the Special Collections: Women’s Travel, “Over a Continent or Through Life” Curated by Camryn Counsil, Class of 2025 We are fascinated by travel: its excitement, its rewards, and even its risks. Experiencing the world can reaffirm beliefs, but it can also challenge them. Travel literature is a conversation about an evolving world. Historically, these stories have been written by men. Women’s accounts in this exhibit provide alternative perspectives on these global interactions. Women travel for pleasure, work, or living abroad. All the while, they engage with cultures, people, and politics different from their own. Ultimately, these women writers describe both their journeys across continents and through life. Eisenhower in Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, a new American play by Richard Hellesen and directed by Peter Ellenstein. Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground is a candid and fascinating fictional eavesdropping on President Dwight D. Eisenhower at his Gettysburg, Pennsylvania farm. Experience this new critically acclaimed work in the town that Eisenhower called home, and in the theater that he regularly attended! As part of the Majestic Theater's centennial season, we honor our history and close association with one of the most consequential figures of the 20th century. Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground is adapted from a vast array of General Eisenhower's memoirs, speeches, and letters, and is set just a mile away in Eisenhower's Gettysburg farm. These performances are made possible in part by the Majestic Theater Centennial Endowment Fund. |
